CYBER RESILIENCE ACT · REGULATION (EU) 2024/2847

CRA compliance: find out for free how far it reaches your product

The Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) is the EU cybersecurity regulation for software and connected devices; its main obligations apply from 11 December 2027. A free 48-hour assessment gives you the product class, conformity route and price; readiness takes 6 weeks, from €7,900 excl. VAT.

Part of it applies already. Since 11 September 2026 manufacturers must report actively exploited vulnerabilities within 24 hours via the ENISA platform, including for products sold long ago (Art. 14 and Art. 69(3)).

Why Ollsoft?

We built our own intelligent tool and framework for CRA testing. It does not stop at a one-off audit: it follows your software through its whole lifecycle.

  • during development it checks every Annex I requirement in the code itself, not in a questionnaire
  • on every update it re-checks the SBOM and vulnerabilities
  • when new threats or vulnerabilities appear, we tell you what has to be done, or take care of it for you
  • AI drafts the documentation from your material and an engineer reviews every document; the AI runs in the EU or on your server
  • we do the technical work and prepare processes and documentation; lawyers at our partner firm Rowan Legal validate them and prepare the contracts

Which products does the Cyber Resilience Act cover?

The Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) is EU Regulation 2024/2847 on the cybersecurity of products with digital elements: from 11 December 2027 they may only be placed on the EU market if they meet Annex I and carry the CE marking. It covers every such product you sell in the EU that connects to a device or a network (Art. 2).

It does not cover medical devices, vehicles, aviation and marine equipment, which have their own rules, or pure SaaS with nothing at the customer; NIS2 covers cloud services of medium and large providers.

  • firmware and embedded software
  • apps, desktop and on-premise software
  • connected devices and components sold separately
  • a cloud part you develop yourself, if the product cannot perform one of its functions without it

What does Annex I require in practice?

Annex I has two parts: security properties of the product and processes for handling vulnerabilities. In engineering terms:

  • no known exploitable vulnerabilities when placed on the market
  • secure default configuration and a reset to factory state
  • security updates, automatic where possible and separate from feature updates
  • access control, encryption and integrity protection for data, commands and configuration
  • logging of security-relevant access and a minimal attack surface
  • a software bill of materials (SBOM) in a machine-readable format
  • a coordinated vulnerability disclosure policy and a contact address for reports

Which conformity assessment do I need?

It depends on the product class. The core function decides, not the components inside: a machine with an operating system is not an “operating system” (Art. 7(1)).

  • default product, which is most: the manufacturer assesses itself (module A) and affixes the CE marking
  • important class I (Annex III), such as operating systems and routers: self-assessment only when harmonised standards or certification are fully applied, otherwise a notified body
  • important class II (Annex III), such as firewalls and hypervisors: always a notified body or European certification
  • critical (Annex IV), such as smartcards: European certification where the Commission requires it, otherwise as class II

Do products I already sell have to change?

It depends on whether you sell hardware or standalone software.

  • hardware: every unit placed on the market from 11 Dec 2027 must comply, even if its type is older
  • a redesign is not needed if the risk assessment shows existing measures suffice (Commission guidance)
  • the conformity assessment, EU declaration of conformity and CE marking are always required
  • software: a version offered before 11 Dec 2027 falls under the CRA only once substantially modified (Art. 69(2))
  • reporting of actively exploited vulnerabilities already applies to all products on the market

FAQ

What clients ask us

That is fine. The code review builds the first SBOM directly from the manifests and lockfiles in your repository; during readiness we hook its generation into your release process.

Most products do not; internal control (module A) is enough. Class II products, critical products and class I products that do not fully apply harmonized standards or a European certification scheme need one.

No. You must create and maintain it but need not publish it (recital 77). Market surveillance can request it with a reasoned request (Annex VII point 8).

The initial assessment is free. Readiness for one product in 6 weeks starts at €7,900 excl. VAT, depending on the number of repositories and the state of your CI. You get a written quote with the assessment.

CRA readiness (from €7,900) already includes the reporting runbook for the ENISA platform (24 h, 72 h). The "CRA reporting-ready in 10 days" package (from €3,900) is for those who need reporting first, as it has applied since 11 September 2026. In operation, both "CRA in operation" (from €590 a month) and "CVE watch in operation" (from €390 a month) match daily against new CVEs, triage matches as OpenVEX and help with reports; "CRA in operation" also generates the SBOM on every release and updates the risk assessment and documentation. All prices excl. VAT.

No. We are engineers who prepare product, processes and documentation. Third-party assessment is done by a notified body; legal validation and contracts by the lawyers of our partner firm Rowan Legal or by your own counsel.
